Client

Major electric vehicle manufacturer providing delivery and consumer end vehicles.

Objective

Rapid manufacturing of electronics enclosures for 3 electric vehicles.

Timeframe

Required project delivery within 3 weeks.

Job Scope

The client hired us to find a solution and to build 115 total enclosure assemblies as quickly as possible.

The enclosure consisted of two pieces. One meant to be stamped and another to be Die Cast. Rapid Axis quoted rapid manufacturing processes for each piece. Laser Cut and form for the stamped design and CNC Machining for the Die Cast design.

Result

We 3D Printed a mockup of their PCB CAD to ensure a perfect fit for all enclosure pieces. The manufacturing processes chosen to speed delivery without the need for tooling were a success.

Our total project lead time was 2.5 weeks, including inspection, bead blast, and clear chromate on all of the components.

Delivery

Delivery was one week before their required dock date and several days ahead of our quoted project lead time. All parts were in spec and functioning as expected.
